DJ Khaled's Features on New Album
When was the last time you heard Drake, Lil Wayne, and Rick Ross in the same place? That's right, never before! Theses new mixes from DJ Khaled have some of the sickest features of the year. His new single "I'm On One" has all three of these hot artists. Be sure to check it out, it's so good i'd play it at my wedding.

DJ Khaled and Some Smooth Rides
Ever wonder what kind of car your favorite DJ drives? Well, i wish the answer were that simple, but the truth is, a man of the kind of money and class drives many cars. The picture below show Khaled a black Mercedes, but i guarantee you that it changes on the daily. He probably takes a Ferrari to the wedding he DJ's and then takes a Range Rover home. Who knows?

Best Quotes of DJ Khaled
This week we're taking a look at some the best quotes from America's best DJ. It's D-J KHA-LED!
“I used to breakdance, be a b-boy. I love hip-hop from
back in the
graffiti days, growing up listening to Michael Jackson. Loved it from
birth. I know
it all, from Afrika Bambaataa, the roots and the
beginning. I came up in a good era.”
“I
started DJing soundclashes. I used to go to Jamaica a lot. I
was like a
hip-hop sound boy, where I took the dancehall culture and mixed it up
with the hip-hop as well. I kept going, going, and I got real hot in the
streets of Miami—you know, doing pirate radio—then ended up doing 99
Jamz, the big station out there.”

DJ Khaled on a Skateboard
We're all about being professional here at the DJ blog. We're not about that skater lifestyle. The boy-man who never grew up and still lives with mom, can't hold down a job, doesn't really care, and is bad with time. That's not us. So when we see DJ Khaled on a skateboard it's only natural that we frown upon this. It's not only the fact that he is riding the board but that he sucks at it and is wasting good time. He could be using that time to DJ at a wedding for goodness sake! This man is out to lunch and as much as we like to make this blog about him, we simply cannot support his decisions this time around. Sorry DJK.

DJ Khaled's new single with Rick Ross
Out today is the new single "They Don't Love You No More" with DJ Khaled and Rick Ross. Along with the single is a music video so hot you'll be sweating. It has a very creative and unique approach to a rap music video. It's not what you'd expect. The video depicts Khaled and Ross hitting golf balls off of luxury vehicles and sipping champagne with their homies. What's especially interesting is the number of appearances by other famous rappers. With all these balls in Khaled's kourt, i think this video is bound to blow up and this will be the summer of Khaled.

Paris Hilton EchoStage Show Review
We announced a few weeks ago on the blog that Paris Hilton would be coming here to D.C. to DJ a set at EchoStage. Well, she did just that, and apparently didn't do too bad. She wasn't a bad DJ at all. Of course, she wasn't the best either. People were not there for the music and we all knew that, she did too. But by the time her set got going she really did have people into the music. She's a businesswoman and not a musician, but she justified her being there by playing some pretty hot beats. She got D.C. dancing.

DJ Khaled Takes The Heat
If you've read our last post, you know what a fool DJ Khaled made of himself last week in the middle of the Heat vs. Spurs controversy. Apparently a lot of people have been reading my blog, because all the homies on Twitter were pissed. You can read about that here. Anyhow, i would let this sink in if i were you. I'll tell you what i told the last ten people, I wouldn't want DJ Khaled to dj at my wedding. What a disaster that could be. Watch out people. Keep your ear to the streets.

DJ Khaled Disses San Antonio Spurs
We all know that DJ Khaled has been somewhat outspoken throughout his career, but he hit an all time high last week when being interviewed about the Spurs vs. Heat game. He called the San Antonio Spurs cheaters, he said he was sure that they'd been practicing without A/C in preparation for the game. Why does he know this? The streets! The streets been tellin him what's goin on. This man is on fire. He knows his stuff and this video proves it. His basketball commentary is good, but i think his best at letting that bass drop.

DJ Cole Plante
Cole Plante is only 17 years old and has been DJ-ing for a little over 3 years. He has worked with Skrillex, Avicii, Major Lazer, and many more. He recently did a TED Talk where he explained what he does. He's quite impressive for his age and if you get the chance, check out his talk here. This is especially good for the person who wants to start DJ-ing but isn't sure how to start.

Khaled Finally Got Jay-Z
We know from previous posts on this blog that DJ Khaled is, indeed, the king of the anthem. He's had a hit seven summers in a row and claims that this will be eight. He's rapped along side some pretty big names such as Rick Ross, TI, Shawn Carter, etc. But up until he's never rapped with the king, Jay-Z himself. Khaled's new single has got some hot features so be on the look out for it. This man does it for the streets and he does it for the people. Don't you forget that.

Why Is DJ Khaled The Best?
A consistent theme running through all of DJ Khaled's albums is: "We The Best." This begs the question, "At What"? What is DJ Khaled the best at? My answer: We don't know. It must be something, because the guy is still going. I know he does a mean anthem. "All I Do Is Win" was definitely a chart topper, but was it that good? Yes. I'm perfectly fine admitting that Khaled is more than a wedding DJ and we don't have to know why. The point is... He's good.

DJ Khaled Is "Making The Best Music I've Ever Made"
DJ Khaled is all about inspiration. He's making new music and he's "the king of anthems." He's doing it "for the streets and for the people." He's gotten to the point where he's suffering from success. He's been the king of summer for the past seven summers. This is going to be eight. Eight summer's with hit singles. While he's confident this is just another year of success. Some people have doubted his ability to still be relevant and have asked the question, "what's left for you to do?" He may not have an answer for that, but he means business. Peace.

Classic Hip Hop
As i've seen more and more DJ's these past few months there's one thing i've noticed across the board. Most of us have really gotten away from classic hip hop and traded it for Top 40 music all night long. Nothing wrong with spinning the charts, but i think we can all agree that Birdman had it. He really knew his way around a song. I miss the days when 90's rap was the main thing DJ's were spinning. Bring it back kids- show 'em some Birdman!

Gangster's Paradise
The more i hear Coolio's "Gangster's Paradise", the more i'm convinced that it's what the people want. After all these years, nothing get's people going in the club as much as this. I've been a DJ 95 years now, as much as music has changed, there's one thing that hasn't - Coolio. He's been my biggest fan every since he came on the scene. His music is catchy and it's hot, something Bach tried to do for years and while he was good, was simply paving the road for Coolio to ride down on a flaming chariot. Props to you Coolio.

Best Song of 2014 Thus Far
I've been thinkin' bout you, thinkin' bout me, thinkin' bout the best songs of 2014. So far i think i've nailed it. There's only so many good songs out there, but lately it seems like the youngsters have got a hold on it. So let's start from #5 and work our way to #1.
5. I think we can all agree that in place number five should be, "Story of My Life" from One Direction. It's not the best song of the year, but it's certainly in 5th place.
4. In fourth place i would have to say "Bound 2" from Kanye's "Yeezus." You can fight me on it, but no one's gonna tell me this song isn't a solid four, and how about that music video?
3. In place three Lorde's "Team." Need i say more?
2. In place number two is no mystery. "Dark Horse" by Katy Perry. This song has taken America by surprise and changed the whole game. We love you Katy.
1. In spot #1... Drumroll please!!!!!!

This Beat is Too Hot Too Handle
How do you draw the line? As a DJ how do you know when a beat is THTH (too hot too handle)? It's a tough decision and i'm not sure i have a right answer for you, but i do know this. I've been so hooked on this new Drake single "Hold on, We're Going Home." This beat is def THTH. It's got all the makings of a great song and is a guaranteed must play. I consider myself the world's most versatile DJ. Why? Because who cares about the genre when the beat is good and pocket is tight? No one. No one cares.

DJ Can't Make You Dance
Being a DJ is a tough job. You've gotta call the shots. You control the
mood. Wherever you go is where the people go. But not always. Sometimes
you've got a killer mix and someone is sitting there throwing a pitty
party for themselves or maybe their too cool for the club or too kool for kanye. Who knows. Point is... sometimes there are things that are
just out of our control. Regardless, keep up the good work fellow dance
instructors. That's what we are. We're unstoppable.

"Do-Not-Play" Lists
Many people would agree that the reception is the best part of the wedding, and some would say that the best part of the reception is the dancing. A good playlist and a good DJ can make for a great time. But what about those moments when the DJ plays a song that is, well.... washed up. It kills the mood and that can take quite few songs to get the taste of your mouth. So it is very important that DJ's stay on top of what people DON'T want to hear just as much as they pay attention to what people DO want to hear. For those of you planning wedding's, be sure to find a really good DJ. Check it this article that i read that names the top 36 songs not to play at weddings. Topping the list is "Celebration" by Kool & The Gang and "Footloose" from the 1984 musical starring Kevin Bacon.

Coolest DJ Setup
I saw this photo recently and was really impressed by this DJ's setup. Check that out! His turntables are incredible and i'm sure he has a heck of a sound! Any time i see these kind of setups i always drool over them and then wish i had something like this. Hey, i guess there's always room to improve at your craft. Anyway check this stuff out. Let me know what you think. What kind of equipment are you into?

DJ's - Coolest Venues
I've been thinking about the things that make a party great. There are so many variables about parties and weddings in particular. It's nearly impossible to get everything perfect. But when things do come together it's incredible. One of the most important things to me is the venue. I recently saw this picture of a venue and it really made me want to hone my skills as a DJ so that i can mix at some of the coolest venues out there. Check it.

You Can Be A DJ Too!
I was at a wedding last weekend and i saw something that really inspired me. There was this DJ there. He was just a kid. Couldn't have been more than 15. He was good. But what really got me was that he was a ginger. It taught me something. Anyone can be anyone they want to be. Don't let anyone tell you any different. His skin was so pale. You can be what you want to be regardless of they way you look or talk or feel. He had many freckles. This wedding was off the hook. We owe it all to him. Thanks Gin. Check it.

DJ - The Party Is Over
Just a few days ago DJ Carnage got arrested at a club in Florida for going over the 2 am curfew. He was warned several times and was asked to stop, but kept going. This gave the officers no choice but to arrest him. If you're a DJ, let that be a lesson. Sometimes you just gotta know when the party is over. Sometimes enough is enough.

Favorite DJ's Of All Time
I certainly can't speak for everyone, but when it comes down to picking my favorite DJ of all time it's gotta be DJ Khaled. That guy has been making hot beats and always picks the sickest samples. If there's anyone i've ever wanted to sound like, it'd be him. I usually don't get worked up about particular artists, i'm more about the song and work on a case by case basis. But with DJ Khaled i've never heard a song i didn't like. Simple as that. What about you? Who's your favorite DJ?

Why DJ's Love Numark
For years now DJ's all over the country have trusted numark for their DJ equipment. When it comes down to it, you need something with a great sound, and something you can trust won't break down on you while you're on the job. What about you? Is there a turntable you just can't do without? Or a great set of speakers you know you'll keep forever?

DJ Khaled is Suffering From Success
So I today's post isn't so much my thoughts as yours. I want your thoughts on this folks. How about the new DJ Khaled album, "Suffering From Success"? I'm not so concerned about the music this time as I am about the concept. Here is a guy who has come face to face with some of life's deepest pain. What do we do when we're thriving in our careers, the fridge is full, and we can't even here the sound of doubt over the sound of our cash? Well, we put on our mink coats and gold rings and with our head our hands... we cry. Success is rough, being a DJ is even rougher. It's a tough life. The hood no longer good. The crew that I once knew only makes me feel more blue and the things i used to do don't even feel true. I'm suffering from success baby, how 'bout choo?

House DJ's
House music is a growing trend across America and across the world. It begin in Chicago in the 80's and quickly caught on with it's minimalistic beats and hot dances. It's very chic. Some would even say it was too hot too handle. The more this style caught on, the hotter things got! Watch out cus you're next! It's impossible to be a DJ these days without being familiar with house music. It's won the hearts of others and yours might be next! Watch out ya toolios!
Be sure to head to a club this weekend that's servin' up a healthy dose of house and hotness! Till next time!

DJ, It's Ok To Cry
Something i think we've all been thinking about lately is that stoic stereotype that the DJ is to often slapped with. Just cus you're a DJ doesn't mean you don't feel like the rest of us, am i right? I went to a wedding one time and the DJ was playing some sick mixes, but i started feeling sick as a sat there and watched him. He looked so emotionless as sat there and played such sick mixes! I ended up in the hospital that night. Turns out my appendix had burst and that was causing me to see the world in a strange way. But still, all i'm saying is... DJ, it's OK to cry.

Turntable's and DJ's
I know what you're thinking, "these darned dj's are taking over the world with their rap music and turntables? where did the orchestras and big bands go, and what ever happened to Bob Hope?" Well maybe you're right, but maybe you're dead wrong. In a recent study it was revealed that Bob Hope had a series of albums as DJ. Here is one of the pics of his favorite turntable that he called "Mother."
So there you have it. The class of the big band era and the comedy of Bob Hope weren't just for the past generation. DJ Hope was a man who transcended time, technology, and trends. Peace!

New Study Finds DJ's CAN Make You Fall In Love
Is it just me, or has this whole DJ trend got you fallin' in love again? I can't think of the last time i felt this way and i'm not saying it's love, but it sure as heck feels like love. Thanks to Usher and this whole "pop music" thing, i'm feeling better about life and love 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thanks Ush!
